Kimberly Miller's Story
I've had all of my mammograms at the GBMC Pavilion Imaging Center. When I had a mammogram at the end of last year, it showed that the breast tissue on my right breast was dense. My internist told me told me to have an ultrasound, which I also had done at GBMC. Because there was a spot on my breast, I had to have a biopsy, also done at GBMC. I was nervous and worried that I may have breast cancer, but the employees at the Imaging Center were kind and patient and answered all of my questions.
I had the biopsy on February 24, and I was told that I'd get the results in five to seven business days. Only three business days later, on February 27, a doctor called me and told me that the breast tissue biopsy was benign. What a relief! One day after that phone call, on February 28, I was happy to be at the GBMC crop to raise money for Oncology Support Services.
I've always been treated well at GBMC, and I know that patients who do have cancer will also be treated well. Because I was given the results of my biopsy quickly, I was able to enjoy the GBMC crop on February 28. I'm very lucky that I don't have cancer, but the worst part for me was not knowing whether or not I had cancer. Thank you, GBMC, for putting my mind at ease.
