Jurise Carter-Roscoe's Story
February 7, 2001, my daughter, Jachea Mack, gave birth to my first grandchild. The baby weighed just one pound, 10.4 ounces. I felt like a fish out of water, emotionally a wreck, because of the size of the baby.
Dr. Pane and the NICU team were awesome. They remained calm and worked on my granddaughter methodically. I was so scared and nervous that this little baby would not survive. Prior to the actual birth, my daughter was hospitalized for two weeks in an effort to give the fetus’ lungs time to develop so she could survive outside of the womb.
Today, that girl is an "A" student, a trained ballet dancer and an all-around great kid. Without the care provided by the GBMC NICU staff, I would not have had the opportunity to have this blessing in my life. So today, as I expand on May 8, 2001, I thank you for all you've done for my family.
Happy 50th Anniversary.
